Our Teachers:
Rachel Bade-McMurphy is an award-winning vocalist, saxophonist and composer. Spawned in rural the Inland Northwest, she received her bachelor’s degree in music from Washington State university and masters degree from Eastern Washington University in Jazz studies . She has released two CDs of all-original music which have received international airplay and has written background music for Emmy-nominated promotional spots for KHQ-Q6 of Spokane. She is a woodwind specialist in the Mead school district, maintains a private music studio and is on staff at Holy Names Music Center where she runs the legacy jazz program designing classes, festivals, camps and workshops. In addition to teaching and performing, Rachel is an advocate for Jazz and the local music scene. She is the founder of the non-profit organization Imagine Jazz, a 2019 and 2020 recipient of Spokane Art Grant Award for the purpose of providing Spokane concerts, educational events and jam sessions to enrich the community. She also works for Spokane Public Radio hosting the “Afternoon in Jazz” on Friday afternoons.

Brendan McMurphy received his BA from Washington State University in Trumpet Performance and MA from Washington State University in Jazz Studies. He performs on both drums and trumpet in many small and large groups throughout the Inland Northwest. His composition "Somewhere, Someplace" was featured in JAZZIZ magazine in 2009. He is on faculty at Spokane Falls Community College and Whitworth University.

Monthly tuition for weekly lessons. Pay the same monthly price all year: holidays and a few lessons for vacation/sick time is already accounted for.
Best for intermediate players, and advancing players. Extra time allows mor repetitions and more time to dig in to literature

Best for Advanced players, mature learners or those who want to work on theory, piano or improvisation in addition to regular technique

Time booked includes set-up and introduction check-in. A student can generally expect 22-25 minutes of instruction in a 30 minute time slot. Adult learners should choose a longer lesson time (40 or 60 min)
